About us

Mode Observation is a service for Christian who are starting to date or just got engaged. It’s for those who are not yet married, but are in the “mode” of “observation”; the time period when you search the will of God for your couple and when you analyse the other person to see if you are indeed ready to marry that person.

Mode Observation is a service for Christian dating couples that encourages them to stay focused on God’s plan for their lives. Mode Observation offers life lessons on how to know if you are made for each other and overcome the challenges of this new season.

At Mode Observation we believe that it is possible to date in holiness, with passion and knowledge, like (Philippians 1:9) says. “And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment” (NKJV). We think that this season is just as beautiful as hard, and that it’s a good thing to have spiritual guidance and practical advice during this period. Even if they are in love with each other, we believe that each partner should be even more in love of Christ to build a strong future.

Mode Observation supports Christian dating couples with a weekly publication of messages on our blog, in French, English and Spanish. Using various workshops and conferences, Mode Observation desires to proclaim the Word of God, a message of deliverance, healing, and passion for Christ.

What we believe

We believe that there is only one God, omnipresent and almighty. (Ephesians 4:6 and Genesis 17:1)

We believe that salvation comes only by grace, through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. Those who received this salvation are the children of God. (Ephesians 2:8 and John 1:12)

We believe the Holy Spirit is with His church, comforting, guiding and teaching the children of God. (John 14:26)

We believe that the Bible is the Word of God and that it is the ultimate authority in matters of faith and the practical life of the Christian. We believe that the 66 books, divided into two parts (Old and New Testament), were written by humans, but all inspired by God. (2 Timothy 3:16-17, and 2 Peter 1:21)

We believe there is only one body, formed by all the children of God, no matter which local Christian church they attend. (Ephesians 4:4-5)

We believe each child of God should attend a local Christian church and serve God there with their talents. (Hebrews 10:24-25)

We believe that sex belongs to married couples only, that marriage is between a man and a woman, and that the children of God should desire to stay pure and holy. (Ephesians 5:3-5)

Tobias and Caroline’s story

Caroline gave her life to Christ in 1985. Despite her young age, Jesus became her best friend and she was baptised in water the following year. In adolescence, she took some time away from God, to experience the world’s way. However, this separation didn’t last long, as she quickly learned that only God can fill her. She completely rededicated her life to Christ in 1998 and became a leader for young adults in her church.

Tobias followed his parents to many different Christian churches in Alberta and was baptised early in his childhood. As a teenager, he took a path away from God, but just like Caroline, he quickly realised that God is the only way. He then led the youth worship group in his church and was a youth leader. Then at 26, he decided to leave Alberta for a career opportunity in Montreal.

It’s in Montreal that Tobias and Caroline met, after exchanging a few messages through a Christian dating site. Being new to Montreal, Tobias decided to attend the same church as Caroline. In their courtship, they kept themselves busy by serving God through praise (Tobias on guitar, Caroline on piano), and giving their support to the French-English translation team of their church.

In 2011, they got married and were appointed the leaders of the 25-40 singles ministry in their church. This group reached about 500 single Christians. The activities were always a hit, but it’s the conferences that they felt really encouraged the singles. In 2015, Tobias and Caroline began offering individual counselling for Christian singles that wanted to grow in Christ and increase the opportunities to meet someone Godly. They started this blog (www.passion374.com) to minister to the same audience.

From a simple blog, Passion374 became a para-church ministry that presents conferences, workshops, and some social activities. Passion374 still offers private coaching and publishes weekly articles in English, French and Spanish on topics touching Christian singles. In 2017, their first book was published: “Finding the one that clicks: a practical guide for Christian online dating”. Then two years later, they published their second book : “On the road to marriage”.

After finding a partner, some Christians that had known Caroline and Tobias through Passion374, kept asking advice and coaching as they were starting their new relationship. The need for assistance in this new season of life was a big need, so this is why Caroline and Tobias start Mode Observation in 2022.

As Passion374, the ministry Mode Observation is totally independent, however, the head of the ministry (Caroline and Tobias) are submitted to the authorities of their church, The 180, in Laval (Montreal-Quebec). They are also the proud parents of two young children.

Vision and Values

Vision :

Mode Observation wants to see Christians passionately in love with God, free and healthy in their souls, minds, and bodies.

Mode Observation wants to see Christian dating couples have a well balanced emotional life, taking care as much of their new relationship as their relationship with their Saviour.

Mode Observation wants Christian dating couples to have the good vision of marriage (to serve and not to be served), so that they get married for the right reason and stay married.

Mode Observation wants Christian dating couples from different churches to have a safe and uplifting environment to encourage each other in this challenging season.

Values:

Mode Observation strives to give God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit the leading position and the last word in all aspects of Mode Observation, on the basis of a revelation confirmed by the Holy Scriptures. (Genesis 17:1, Colossians 1:18, Proverbs 3:6, 1 John 4:1-6, 2 Peter 1:19-21)

Mode Observation strives to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and to allow Him to use us to serve, minister, encourage and teach the children of God. (John 14:26, John 14:12, 1 Corinthians 2:4-5, Micah 3:8)

Mode Observation strives to meet the needs of Christian dating couples. Including, but not limited to, coaching toward marriage, healing and restoring from hurts of previous relationships, and creating a community of like-minded people. Just as Jesus responded to the needs of the sick, the poor and the hungry as He preached the gospel. (James 2:14-18)

Mode Observation strives to use the challenges of the season of dating for Christians as a means of bringing unity to the body of Christ in all cities, countries, languages, and denominations. (Ephesians 4:4-5)

Mode Observation strives to empower the children of God to build His kingdom through their local church and encourage them to be faithful to God by being active in their local church. (Hebrews 10:24-25, Matthew 9:38)

Mode Observation strives to uphold the biblical definition of marriage between a man and a woman, including the purity of the conjugal bed to the glory of God. We encourage the children of God to remain pure and holy. (Ephesians 5:3-5)

Mode Observation strives to defend the biblical definition of gender and sexual orientation. God created each person with purpose and intentionality. (Mark 10:6, Psalm 139:14, Numbers 23:19, Psalm 145:17)

All Mode Observation employees, as well as administrators and their representatives, strive to maintain a higher standard of holiness in their lives. We do not want to be a stumbling block for others and we agree not to conform to the culture of this world. (Romans 14:13, Matthew 23:13, 1 Corinthians 8:9, Romans 12:2, Ephesians 5:1)

Mode Observation strives to create an environment that glorifies God and edifies the participants. This environment is free from temptations such as alcohol, tobacco and other recreational uses of chemicals. (James 4:1-4, Matthew 26:4, 1 John 2:16, James 1:14-16)
